An Undersea
Exploration!
Who lives in the deep, dark ocean? What tickles your toes under the water? Come find out! Scuba dive and snorkel with marine researchers and discover what it takes to be an ocean explorer. Witness the majesty of ocean wildlife first hand!
Picture It
Join five other girls for an intensive, hands-on week of ocean science and discovery. Learn the fundamentals of ocean exploration and technology, coral reef ecology, oceanography, maritime archaeology, habitat preservation, and marine biology. Scuba dive down to the world's only underwater laboratory, the Aquarius Habitat, and visit scientists at work. Work alongside marine resource scientists on the coral reefs. Scuba dive and snorkel to numerous sites, including a shipwreck site in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. Learn how to devise an outreach plan for taking what you learn back home to your school, Girl Scout council, and community.

Note: Applications MUST be received at GSUSA by March 25, 2004. A separate 2004 Aquarius Project Application Form and two References are required. Please contact your local council for an application or contact Jodi Stewart (see below). Applicants will be notified of their acceptance during the week of May 14, 2005.

Career Camp is for anyone interested in working up-close with animals. Work side-by-side with our zoological staff to care for our amazing SeaWorld animals, such as sea lions, pacific white-sided dolphins, and beluga whales. Gain valuable insight to animal care, training, or veterinary career aspirations.
Picture It
A week-long camp designed for 40 future zoologists to provide the rare opportunity to monitor animal health, record behavior, prepare diets, and feed an amazing array of SeaWorld animals. Days are long and the work can be hard, but with the friendship and help of your group of 20 other very excited animal lovers, the experience will be extremely rewarding. Discover fascinating facts about animals, and learn from professionals in the fields of veterinary science, animal training, and conservation.

You may be able to observe treatment in the Emergency Room, surgery, or in other therapeutic practices. Come sail away! Spend three days aboard a schooner on stunning Grand Traverse Bay with 24 fellow sailor girls.
Picture It
Scientists will help you to understand weather, waves, and zooplankton (don't worry—you'll learn what it is!). Practice using a trawl net to fish, and check out careers in marine and aquatic biology. See the workings of a schooner firsthand as you help sail the boat. Stay on board overnight and take a turn at night watch. Choose from other activities, including a nature hike, videos on ecology and boat building, and a tour of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

If you ever look outside and ask yourself the "whys" and "hows" about how nature works, come get a glimpse of the answers!
Picture It
Join 14 other soon to be naturalists and 15 of their adult mentors for a week in big sky country. Learn how to keep a naturalist's journal, get up close to some of nature's most intriguing creatures, wild birds, as you become part of a national bird-banding effort. Live among the pronghorn antelope, bison, coyotes, and ospreys! Hike the Grand Teton National Park with views that will leave you breathless. But keep breathing, as you learn from field instructors at the Teton Science School how this ecosystem works—from the smallest stream to tallest peak. Use your new skills and knowledge to develop a project that you complete back home, helping spread the word of your experience among your friends.

Orlando Florida Keys—Adventure Camp
Journey to
the Heart of the Fabulous Florida Keys!
Enjoy sun-filled days of snorkeling and wildlife exploration in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. You'll encounter colorful coral, parrotfish, butterfly fish, stingray, barracuda, and maybe even a few small sharks! Your fun continues after dark with hands-on activities designed to help you discover the ecology of Florida's endangered coral reefs.
Picture It
This adventure is action-packed with hands-on activities and investigations of the Florida Keys' ecosystems and protected coral reefs, designed just for you and approximately 40 other adventurers. You and your group of 20 will dive right into learning as you snorkel in a variety of locations in the Keys, learn species identification, and perform tide pool studies while you stay in the Keys island. Next, journey back to SeaWorld Orlando, and witness amazing animals, shows, and habitats.

Join a week of fun in the sun while learning about ocean animals, including dolphins and sharks, and the environment we all share.
Picture It
You'll spend a week interacting with SeaWorld staff from a variety of disciplines, as you and approximately 32 other explorers learn about staff's jobs and meet some of the animals they work with. Tour animal facilities and discover what it takes to rescue and rehabilitate an injured or ill animal. Spend an afternoon snorkeling or kayaking on beautiful Mission Bay.
