The 2nd
World Solidarity Camp in France
Eight days of adventure plus a possible pre-event match-up with French girls, who will personally welcome you to their country.
Picture It
This event offers five meaningful ways to promote solidarity among young people around the world, while you see a corner of France at the same time.
Assemble
at "Solidarity Square," a place for sharing experiences and
learning about other organizations;
Head
over to "Communication and Sciences Crossroads," and use new
technologies or sign language to communicate;
Go
on "Adventure-Solidarity" trips and explore the region with small
team-building groups;
Take
a walk down "World Street," where all countries are celebrated
colorfully, and join the Festival of Cultures, to share your own heritage
and appreciate others'.

Catching
Waves in Costa Rica
Surf and
Explore!
Breathtaking beaches, warm water breaks, world-renowned point breaks, exotic wildlife, glowing sunsets, and all the surfing you can handle...will you be there?
Picture It
Ride this trend—surfer boys don't always rule the seas! This trip is run by the Costa Rica Rainforest Outward Bound School (CRROBS) and is dedicated to addressing the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of the female surfer. Whether it's your first time on a surfboard or you want to perfect your moves in the ocean, this trip offers something for everyone at all levels.
You'll travel to some of the best surf breaks on Costa Rica's warm Pacific Coast, and explore secret spots known only to a few locals. While the surf is pumping, you'll be in it—learning new tricks and techniques—but while the tide is out, you'll enjoy activities like yoga, mangrove explorations, and discussions about ocean ecology, coastal conservation, and more. You and 14 other surfers will cook your own meals and camp under the stars. Forget tourist trinkets—you'll be bringing home real surfing skills!</P< p>

the Alpine Tundra
A unique journey to "The Rock"—the island of Newfoundland—some of the most remote areas of Canada.
Picture It
Hike with approximately 10 other adventurers into breathtaking alpine tundra, alive with wildflowers and punctuated by rock, high in the Long Range Mountains. Navigate your kayak through high stone corridors, known as "tickles" and into spectacular fjords. Explore the remote backcountry of Notre Dame Bay. Marvel at whales and puffin at sea, and caribou and rock ptarmigan (grouse game birds) further inland.

Leave the daily grind behind. Step into the "pura vida" of Costa Rica and experience the enchanting rainforest, adrenaline-inducing whitewater, tropical beaches, and world-famous hospitality of the "Ticos.
Picture It
This Costa Rica Rainforest Outward Bound School (CRROBS) event will take you, and 14 other spirited adventurers, from the jungles to the beaches of Costa Rica. In only 10 days, you will trek through the rainforest, do a canopy tree climb and rappel from a jungle waterfall, raft Class III and IV rapids, and try your hand at surfing. You will also have the unique opportunity to spend time with local families in their homes, and participate in their daily activities—including everything from milking cows or harvesting crops—to making tortillas! You may never experience Costa Rica like this again.

The
5th Annual International Finnjamboree
"Let's go to the woods," in the land of the midnight sun, to an event with 1,000 International participants and 13,000 Finnish Girl Guides and Boy Scouts. You can be part of two groups representing Girl Scouts of the USA.
Picture It
It's a coed jamboree with lots of youth focusing on the outdoors and camping skills. Here's your chance to use your outdoor living skills while surrounded by the spruce, pine, and crystal clear lakes of the taiga. You'll be working with a group of 12 other girls and two adults, and you'll have a chance to participate in outdoor activities, handicrafts, and water activities, as well as focus on environmental issues. You can pair with a Finnish group at the event and arrange for home hospitality before or after the jamboree. This is the opportunity of a lifetime for those who want a challenging and meaningful experience, a chance to use camping skills (and learn some new ones) and an occasion to meet people from around the world.

Sussex 2004

Friendships
Find the Wild West at West Sussex International Camp.
Picture It
In an event geared to create international friendships and opportunities for fun, you and your group of ten girls and two advisors will camp out with 2000 other Girl Guide and Boy Scouts. With a "Wild West" theme, you'll stay in one of four sub-camps, trying your hand at activities such as sailing, abseiling*, archery, judo, and crafts, as well as getting involved in social and cultural events. Rock out in your hiking boots with live bands, participate in challenges between camps, and be linked to a West Sussex Guide group. We'll bet you'll come up with a way to show the Brits what the Wild West is really like! *Abseiling is a combination of German words that means "sliding down ropes." It is similar to rappelling.
