PATHWAYS TO POLITICS
Women Making a Difference!

From the Garden State to D.C., forty-one girls explored the powerful roles of women in politics, leadership, and community activism—past and present.

GENERAL PROGRAM SCHEDULE

  • Intro to Douglass College
  • Women and Leadership Day with Keynote Speaker: Jane Swift, first female governor of Massachusetts.
  • Day trip to Val-Kill in Hyde Park, New York Private tour of Val-Kill cottage, private tour of FDR home, self-guided tour of museum and Vanderbilt mansion, access to all of the National Park's facilities.
  • Women in Politics Historical Participation - Service and Politics
  • Day trip to Philadelphia Tour of National Constitution Center, which includes the multimedia show "Freedom Rising," visiting the computer lab, Signers' Hall, and participating in the "I signed the Constitution" program to take back home.
  • Advocacy Workshops Activism - Political Change Day
  • Recreation Day to the Jersey Shore
  • Diversity Day
  • State Day
  • Washington, D.C. for three days and two nights See the monuments, meet with U.S. Senators and women in politics, see the Smithsonian, and the National Museum of Women.
  • Leadership Projects
